“Time is what we want most, but what we use worst.”
Admit it, as much as we want to accomplish all our plans, tasks, and deliverables in a day, time is a factor that almost always gets in the way. After all, we only have 24 hours per day vs the seemingly endless To-Dos playing in our minds.
To add, there are times that no matter how prepared for the day we think we are, life happens - you try to leave early but you get stuck in traffic, you try to work on a project you’ve been putting off for weeks but suddenly have an urgent errand to do, and the list goes on.
Don’t fret just yet, as it’s all about setting our mindset and acting on it. Tell yourself that you have the power to manage your time, instead of time managing you. How? Here are some Time Management tips that you should master:
1/ Get organized. Put those mental checklists on paper and write them down. Not only will you be able to organize your thoughts, you’ll also realize that it’s a therapeutic process as well.
2/ Prioritize. When we say prioritize, we mean those that are important and urgent. Check your list, identify the key priorities, and start with them. As for the other items, you can defer, delegate, or delete.
3/ Set a Time Limit. Make it time bound so you can prompt yourself for each task that you will accomplish. You can set the alarm on your phone or use a Time Management app - choose what works for you.
4/ Do not multitask. As productive as it may sound, multitasking can oftentimes do more harm than good as it eats more time and energy when you try to do so. So instead, focus on the task in front of you and avoid distractions as much as possible.
5/ Eliminate Distractions. When you really want to get things done, then you should avoid those things that distract you - put your mobile phone in silent mode, close those messaging apps, and close all tabs except for the one that you’re working on.
There you have it – the Waff Team’s tips to effectively and efficiently manage your time. Just a friendly reminder, you are in control. You can accomplish what you want to accomplish as long as you put your mind into it.
